BUFFALO, Wyo. — A commercial truck fire caused the temporary closure of the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 in northern Wyoming on Saturday.
The incident took place at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday at mile post 42 approximately 12 miles north of Buffalo, Wyo., according to a release from Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Michael Robeson, 53 from Las Vegas, was driving a 2001 Freightliner commercial truck pulling a trailer westbound on I-90 when a passing motorist motioned to him that some of the trailer’s tires had caught fire. Robeson pulled over and was able to dampen the fire with extinguishers along with responding troopers from WHP. The efforts did not put the fire completely out.
Fire crews from Johnson County responded and the westbound lanes of the interstate were temporarily closed. The firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the rear half of the trailer, saving the truck from any damage.
The westbound lanes of I-90 reopened at 5 p.m.
