The country world lost a beloved member last Friday when Montgomery Gentry‘s Troy Gentry was killed at age 50 in a helicopter crash in New Jersey. As the country community continues to mourn his death, his family has revealed details for a public celebration of the late singer’s life.
Troy will be remembered on September 14 at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry at 11 a.m. CT, with a private, family internment to follow. The singer’s family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to T.J. Martell Foundation or the American Red Cross for hurricane relief. A fitting location for remembrance, Montgomery Gentry became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2009. It was an accomplishment that Troy has said was his proudest professional achievement.
An obituary released today cites Troy as “a loving father and devoted husband.” He’s survived by his wife, Angie Gentry, and his daughters, Taylor and Kaylee.
“Known for his wide smile, Gentry was personally driven by faith, family and living life to the fullest. He was happiest on the water with his family,” the obituary states.
