Despite an ongoing disagreement between the County Commissioners and the Board of Trustees of Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Commissioner and Hospital Liaison John Kolb says the Commission continues to emphatically support the physicians and support staff at the hospital.

“While there may be a disagreement about the Hospital Board of Trustees’ traditions and the Commission’s assertion of legal facts backed by our County Attorney, that in itself has nothing to do with any physicians that are currently working at our hospital,” said Kolb. “I totally support them, for all that they do for us.”

Kolb says that support comes from the entire Board of County Commissioners. He says the position of support has been expressed during County Commission meetings in the past, and it’s a position they all share.

The Commissioners have identified that Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is of the highest priority, because it impacts the health and safety of every resident in Sweetwater County.

“Those physicians we have a great people. Staff that backs them up are great. There’s no issues with any of the folks that are up there doing the things that we all need. I just wanted to say that because I wouldn’t want anyone to get the impression that there’s any animosity to the physicians or support staff that do those things day-to-day. I think they’re great people they’re doing something we all need to have done. And without them, where would we be?” Kolb said.

As the liaison to the hospital, Kolb provides information on hospital happenings to the Board of County Commissioners, and relays important information back to the Hospital Board. The liaison position is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, who are the elected officials between the two boards. The Hospital Board is also appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Kolb says he encourages anyone with questions or concerns to contact him. Kolb’s contact information can be found here.
