Rock Springs will host the Wyoming High School State Forensics tournament for 2018 and 2018.
The Sweetwater County Event Recruitment Committee, a committee of the Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board, announced Friday that the state tournament for Wyoming High School Speech and Debate will be held at the Western Wyoming Community College campus.
The Event Recruitment Committee submitted a bid proposal to the Wyoming High School Activities Association earlier this year. The WHSAA Board of Directors then selected Sweetwater County as the best-suited site for the tournament. This three-day event will bring 800 students, plus coaches, sponsors, and spectators to Sweetwater County. This will be the fifth time Sweetwater County has hosted the tournament.
“We are fortunate to have such a valuable partnership with Western Wyoming Community College, as the college is know for hosting top-notch events that are not only beneficial to students from around the state, but also beneficial to the local economy as a whole,” mentioned Jenissa Meredith, Executive Director, Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board.
The Wyoming State High School Forensics Tournament will be held on March 9-11, 2017 at the Western Wyoming Community College campus in Rock Springs. The event will be held again in Rock Springs in 2018 with dates to be announced.
