The 13th Annual “Run with the Horses Marathon” is set to take place on Saturday around the Wild Horse Loop Tour. The race will be professionally timed again this year. Timing is more efficient and the results are immediate. The run will begin and end on Expedition Island. This event will also include a ½ Marathon and a 10 K run and will begin at 6 a.m.
Over 150 people participated in the Marathon last year, and 32 states were represented.
The Chamber again drew more from the surrounding area with the addition of the 10 K Run. Runners proceed through town, on to the Wild Horse Loop Tour and then turn and follow the same route back. There will be aid stations every two miles with water, PowerAde and energy snacks alternating at each station.
Currently Race Directors, John and Terry Pawleska are working to continue the Race’s great reputation. More information is available on the website specifically for the marathon- www.runwiththehorsesmarathon.com. You can register at the site today.
The Seedskadee Trout Unlimited Chapter #533 group will be hosting the “River Walk” event again this year which will begin around 9 a.m. and will follow along the green belt. Dog Fetching Competitions have been very popular and those will again take place at 11 a.m. sponsored by the Red Desert Humane Society. Dogs will participate in a timed fetching event both in the water and on land. Dogs will fetch a stick or ball from the river and then again from land. They will also be hosting the Dog Show event again this year.
The Car Show on Evers Park will once again be hosted by the Sweetwater Rodders—so polish up your favorite ride. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, vintage and new are welcome. There were 33 cars and motorcycles registered last year.
