Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis says she opposes President Obama’s call for gun control legislation.
“President Obama’s words and actions on gun control today are a desperate attempt by a last term president to come up with legacy points,” Lummis said in an issued statement. “The President cannot claim to respect the Constitution while at the same time use the swipe of his pen to impose restrictions on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. In Wyoming, we know the value of the Second Amendment and understand its importance for self-defense and safeguarding our liberty. Neither the Republican Congress nor the American people will stand for infringement of these rights.”
President Obama unveiled plans today to require anyone in the gun selling business to register as licensed dealers. The Obama administration hopes these requirements will expand the number of gun sales subject to background checks.
