Two New York residents were arrested near Laramie on Wednesday after Troopers found 19 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
According to a release from WHP, a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan was stopped for speeding at about 9:23 a.m. near mile post 288 on Interstate 80. During the stop, the Trooper established reasonable suspicion that speeding was not the violation, according to the release.
Frosty, a WHP K-9 was put into action and alerted officers to a controlled substance. Troopers confiscated 19 pounds of marijuana, less than one gram of suspected cocaine and over $1,300 in cash. K-9 Frosty also found an unexpected treat when a large candy cane shaped dog bone was in the vehicle.
Zachary Sasz, 24 of Waterford, NY, and Barry Connor, 25 of Clifton Park, NY, were taken into custody. They were taken to the Albany County Detention Center in Laramie and have been charged with felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to deliver and misdemeanor possession of the suspected cocaine.
The marijuana is believed to have originated out of Reno, Nevada and was destined for the Albany, NY area with an estimated street value of around $80,000.
