The Sweetwater Count Library System is hosting two “Zentangle! What is it?” classes. The first class is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at White Mountain Library, 2935 Sweetwater Drive in Rock Springs. The second class is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River, according to a release from Sweetwater County Libraries.
Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way create images by drawing structured patterns. Taught by Joyce Bauman, the purpose of the class is to introduce those in attendance to Zentangle.
Bauman is teaching this program because she wanted to share her newfound passion. An avid crafter, Bauman enjoys crocheting, needlepoint, sewing, cross-stitch, and scrapbooking. When it comes to drawing, however, Bauman admitted that “I can barely draw stick figures.” After attending a workshop on Zentangle, her tune on drawing changed – she was hooked on this type of artwork.
“I love Zentangle because I can create beautiful designs even though I cannot draw a straight line,” Bauman said in the release. “I am only limited by my imagination, and that is going wild.”
Zentangle is often described as a meditative art form that helps the brain focus, relieves stress.
The classes are free and open to the public and all supplies are included.
The Zentangle classes are sponsored by the Sweetwater County Library System.
