Green River Police Officers have closed the case of an outhouse fire at Expedition Island on January 23.
According to a release from GRPD, police responded to the Expedition Island parking lot at about 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 23 in response to a fire at a Western Relief Service’s outhouse. A witness to the fire initially put out the blaze with snow, and the Green River Fire Department ensured the fire was extinguished.
The blaze is estimated to have caused about $800 in damage.
Officers spoke to people who frequent the area, and information lead investigators to interview two boys, ages 12 and 14. According to the release, the boys allegedly admitted to playing with fire in the outhouse and were cooperative during the investigation.
Officers completed the investigation on Monday. A report on the incident has been forwarded to the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office for review.
