Sweetwater Foster Care is promoting foster care awareness in the community by including students from Sweetwater County school systems graphic arts classes in an ongoing project.
Students from Black Butte High School and Rock Springs High School were asked to create works of art for foster care awareness.
Two entries, chosen by popular vote, will be used to continue the Sweetwater Foster Care mission for awareness throughout the year. The winning entries will be made available for purchase on t-shirts, sweatshirt/hoodie, jackets, canvas bags, etc.
There is no profit gained from the sale of these items. The project is used for awareness purposes only.
The teachers for the classes at Black Butte and Rock Springs High Schools, Jessica Jidas and Shari Kumer, said this is a great learning tool for children in their Graphic Arts classes because it provides them with an opportunity to work with a customer who has a specific need or purpose in mind. They added that students stay motivated when they are working on authentic projects, and are happy to have the opportunity to work with the foster care program to promote the need for foster parents in the community.
All entries are on display in the White Mountain Mall and also on the Sweetwater County Foster Care Facebook page. You can vote for your favorite either in the mall, or by ‘liking’ your favorite on the Facebook page.
