The American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 will host Tribute to Fallen Soldiers riders who are carrying the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Flame to honor fallen members of the U.S. military.
Rock Springs Commander of the Sons of the American Legion Mike Tipton said the riders will make a short stop in Green River at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and would arrive in Rock Springs at around 5 p.m.
When arriving in Rock Springs, Tipton said the riders would take Interstate 80 Exit 104, and proceed on Dewar Drive and Center Street. They will then take Grant Street and cross the Elk Street overpass before arriving at the post on Broadway.
After the riders arrive, Archie Hay Post 24 will be hosting a dinner. The dinner will be open to the public with a cost of $5 per plate, and the proceeds from the dinner will go to support the travel expenses of the riders’ trip.
Tipton said anyone is welcome to attend, and visitors will be able to see the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Flame and learn more about the Tribute to Fallen Soldiers and the American Legion.
The riders left Eugene, Ore. On Saturday, and will cross the nation on a 14-day, 2,500-mile trip to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C.
Along the way, they will visit 42 Gold Star Families who have lost a family member in service to the nation, and will present each of them with a plaque.
