The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency is offering its first guided, historical walking tour through Downtown Rock Springs.
The initial tour is set for Friday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m., departing from the Rock Springs Main Street/URA office at 603 S Main Street.
During the tour, local historian David Tate will provide an overview of the historical and cultural landmarks of downtown Rock Springs. Covering a wide range of architectural styles, and including anecdotes about the people behind the buildings, this tour is a great way to become acquainted or re-acquainted with the unique character of Rock Springs.
The tour promises to offer unique insights into Rock Springs’ storied past. While drop-ins are welcome, those interested are encouraged to sign up in advance by calling the Rock Springs Main Street/URA office at 307-352-1434 by Thursday, July 21 at 12 noon.
According to the URA, they hope to offer additional tours in the future if there is enough interest in this tour.
The tour will be led by David Tate who has served on the Rock Springs City Council since 1999. David’s family has been in the community for four generations and he holds a Masters Degree in Historic Preservation. David was one of the original developers of the updated Historic Walking Tour and has a wealth of knowledge; he has a deep passion for Rock Springs’ history and beauty
