One woman was injured with non-life-threatening injuries this morning in a two-vehicle crash on Elk Street.
According to Rock Springs Police Department Public Information Officer Alison Deters, a woman was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle after another car pulled out in front of her while making a left turn. Deters did not know the nature of the woman’s injuries, but said they were non-life-threatening.
The crash was called in at 8:19 a.m. and occurred on the 1600 block of Elk Street.
Deters said 69-year-old Francisco Saavedra-Vaca was driving a Toyota passenger car and was making a left turn onto Elk Street from the Outlaw Inn. Saavedra-Vaca was unable to see beyond a semi-truck making a right turn from northbound, right lane and not see a Nissan passenger vehicle in the northbound, left lane. Saavedra-Vaca attempted to execute the left turn, and a crash resulted between the Toyota and the Nissan.
While the wreck was cleared, the southbound lanes of Elk Street were blocked. Southbound traffic was diverted around the wreck through the A&A Cash Advance parking lot.
The wreck was cleared shortly before 9 a.m.
Deters said Saavedra-Vaca was cited for Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way.
