No injuries were reported in Campbell County after someone shot at members of law enforcement, causing a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper to return fire.
According to a release from Wyoming Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning after WHP was called to assist the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office with a possible suicidal subject near mile post 135 on Wyoming State Highway 59, approximately 10 miles north of Gillette.
A Trooper from WHP and a Deputy from Campbell County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and were immediately fired upon, according to the release.
The Trooper’s patrol car was hit during the shooting, and the Trooper returned fire.
The suspect quickly surrendered with no one sustaining injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating.
