Rock Springs and Green River were recently named in a list of the Top Ten Main Streets in Wyoming, according to website OnlyInYourState.com.300x250_RMB

OnlyInYourState.com says “Main Streets can tell you a lot about an area since downtowns start out as being the foundation of the city. Most of the buildings in downtown areas embody that area’s past.”  They added that the Top Ten Main Streets in Wyoming do that very thing.

Rock Springs comes in at number four.  The website says, “Rock Springs started out as a coal mining town. Now the downtown area consists of the Rock Springs Historic Museum, the Broadway Theater, Bunning Park, and Farmers’ Market.”

Also in Sweetwater County, Green River made the list at number seven. The website says “Green River’s Main Street is very picturesque with a mountain as its backdrop. In the downtown area, you will find the Tomahawk Hotel, Sweetwater County Courthouse, and the Green Gander Bar.”

Several of the state’s top main streets are a part of The Main Street Program, which works towards preserving the historic charm while promoting economic development. Buffalo, Evanston, Green River, Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, and Sheridan are all part of this program.

According the Rock Springs Main Street/URA manager Chad Banks, the attention Rock Springs is garnering is appreciated.

“It’s nice to be recognized for the great community we are,” he said in a release from URA.  “OnlyInYourState.com is the third national organization to recognize Rock Springs and we couldn’t agree more,” Banks added.
