The owner of White Mountain Mall has issued a statement about the closure of JCPenney in Rock Springs, saying negotiations with “a best in class retailer” have already started.
Rouse Properties, which owns the mall, is describing the need to fill the 34,300 square feet space as an opportunity. The company has not said which retailer they have been in contact with.
Rouse Properties issued the following statement:
Recapturing the 34,300 square feet anchor box currently occupied by JCPenney provides us with another opportunity to further enhance White Mountain Mall’s merchandise mix and take advantage of retail demand in the market. We have already been in negotiations with a best in class retailer to take this prime endcap position at the mall. Tenant demand for this asset has been robust as proven by recent new deals with Ross, Star Stadium 10 Theaters and Joann’s. We look forward to sharing exciting news on this new tenant announcement in the near future.”
WyoRadio reported yesterday that a manager of the Rock Springs JCPenney and the store’s corporate office confirmed rumors that the location will close in early April.
The Rock Springs location is one of seven to close nationwide.
